Upper part of soil contain most of non metallic oxide. e.g ,Co2,Sio2 etc.

We know non metallic oxide are acidic in nature because when nonmetallic oxide hydrolyzed produces acid.
Co2+H2o=H2Co3
No2+H2o=HNo3
Thats why upper part of soil highly acidic in nature.
